Theory covers use of life jackets, life rafts, lifesaving equipment & techniques, first aid for survival, hypothermia, long term survival, abandonment & life raft drill, and swimming techniques.

Compliant with MSN1726, MGN147 & Code of Practice for Small Commercial Vessels. Covers Category C medical stores, basic first aid techniques, CPR, bandaging etc

Practical fire fighting session

A one day course

Theory covers basic firefighting techniques, instruction on use of various firefighting equipment.

Afternoon session – practical covering use of firefighting appliances on real fires. Each candidate to take part using extinguishers.

Theory covering observance of safe working practices, types of emergency, understanding orders and onboard oommunications, prevention of pollution of the marine environment, contribute to effective human relationships on board vessel.

Safety Awareness and Managing Safety at Sea

**Between 6-18 months after completing the fishermen’s basic safety training, it is a mandatory requirement that all crews are required to complete the Safety Awareness and Managing Safety at Sea course.**

This course is not funded and must be paid for by each crew member. Achievement of this certificate will qualify fishermen to progress to units towards the Under 16.5m Skippers Ticket.

Note: once achieved, and after three years, this course is funded as a refresher course.
